Tagging of Wikipedia Articles by interactive Browsing of Medical Subject Headings(MeSH).
This collection is -similary to all MESHine Collections- made to promote medical knowledge by a keyword-driven approach to the retrieval of Medical Information.
Content is build and continuously updated through user-driven retrieval of MeSH-related Wikipedia Articles, which is initialized by simply browsing MESHine’s MeSH Thesaurus.
The more users browse deeply through all branches and hierarchies of the MeSH Thesaurus on MESHine the more complete and comprehensive this collection will get. Finally it may arrive at representing a (nearly) complete MeSH-Map on Wikipedia Medical Content.
Wikipedia Content will gain additional value, scientific strength and validity (back-)referencing to primary sources of information such as fulltext articles and other biomedical databases. Through adding MESHine-generated, structured content to original Wikipedia articles, MESHine users can easily contribute to Wikipedia by adding appropriate MeSH terms and/or Pubmed references.
Collections contained here were retrieved by using public Web-Apis of major search engines limiting the search to Wikipedia Online Enzyclopaedia.
The MeSH thesaurus is used by NLM (US National Library of Medicine) for indexing articles from 4,800 of the worldଁs leading biomedical journals for the MEDLINE/PubMED® database. It is also used for the NLM-produced database that includes cataloging of books, documents, and audiovisuals acquired by the Library. Each bibliographic reference is associated with a set of MeSH terms that describe the content of the item. Similarly, search queries use MeSH vocabulary to find items on a desired topic.
